About Us
Matt and I met while working at a bible camp in Southwest Minnesota called Shetek Lutheran Ministries. At the time, Matt was a counselor and I was one of the Kitchen Girls. We talked on occasion during staff training but really became friends throughout the weeks after many cooked meals and packed outcamp supplies. We didn't start dating until almost a year later. Throughout that year we kept in touch but it wasn't until February that we really started to get closer. In April, Matt came to visit me while I attended my freshman year at Dakota State University in Madison, SD and that's when our official journey began.
After nearly 2 years of a distant relationship, driving 2 1/2 hours one way almost every weekend, Matt graduated from college with his degree in Graphic Design. He then decided to move to Sioux Falls to be closer to me while I finished my college career at the University of Sioux Falls. It was in February when Matt took me back to Madison and asked me to marry him. He'll tell you that I was in complete shock and thought he was joking. After some time and denial, I've come to agree with him saying this. We had talked about getting engaged but I expected it to happen sometime around the summer. To my surprise, it happened on a Sunday in the middle of winter.
After 15 months of preparation, stress, some tears and lots of laughter...Matt and I got married on June 1, 2013. Despite some rain, overcast skies and a fainting bridesmaid, our wedding was great and we wouldn't have changed a thing. For us, it didn't matter that everything fell into place, everyone got along and the food stayed warm. All that mattered to us was that at the end of the day we were finally husband and wife. We are so thankful for all who helped make our day so special and can't wait to see what the future and God have in store for us!
